I am buying it for watching movies in my room. Can I project the screen onto my ceiling or will it result in damage to lamp or sumthing.

This will most likely cause it to overheat. however if you use the threads on the bottom to attach it to tripod that can face up. I think that will work fine. it is an led projector so there are no moving parts or bulbs to worry about. You might even be able to build something to attach the projector to with a wood block and bolt and some glue if your really want:)
