For those of you that have the M501d-AR2, and have had firmware update, so to System Information, and tell me what version you have? I currently have 1.04.955M90. Time is current, 3D button works with regular TV-but it doesn't convert anything to viewable 3D content, unless it was originally 3D to begin with. So, the only 3D I can watch is over YouTube, or maybe VOD(Dish Network)...but haven't seen any video's on Dish that were 3D yet. Also, haven't checked Blockbuster(supposed to have that for free....just don't see any 3D content that's free.
Also, since buying the TV, I've never received a "firmware upgraded" message-so it's possible the TV I bought was already upgraded? Or, I'm still waiting? Remote doesn't work great-but I use the one from Dish most of the time anyways.

Also, while trying to register my TV online for warranty purposes, I can't. My model number, and most of the newer ones, aren't even listed in any of the drop down boxes of products-so I guess you have to register through the TV?? I think I did that when I filled out my name/address, etc, in the set-up. Just strange that they give you a warranty card-say to you "register online", and you can't!!!

(Sigh) Because many people buy extended warranties on HD TVs and I wouldn't bother buying one from BB. The free extra year warranty from Costco is far more valuable than any coverage you can purchase from BB.

I received the 70".. Will unpack and setup tonight. I will take pictures.. Not much of a pro when it comes to pq. I'm coming from a 2004 720p panisonic plasma. So this should look awesome

My 70 is being delivered tomorrow. I wish the manual said how far the wall bracket holes are from the top. I could mount the bracket today and be ready to enjoy it tomorrow.

Not calling you out, they're good reasons, I don't have a Costco mebership because I have to travel to get to one vs Sams is 1 mile from me. Granted some have the 60 day BB deal but the normal BB 15 day sucks. I agree that Costco only accepts American Express so options are limited but they treat their customers very well, I was just curious.

Havsuvideo,

The 3D is ONLY for existing 3D stuff, Vizio doen't do 2D - 3D conversion. I had an LG that did that a few months ago and the conversion was poor at best so I didn't worry about that feature. I have Comcast and Starz & HBO (package deal for 2 years) and starz has quite a few good movies on demand in 3D which is included and they look great, the newest spiderman, men in black 3, John Carter, well done 3D movies so if you don't have that option, 3D bluray players go for about 100

Just getting registered on the 70. Great first impression watching the golf on espn and monsters inc 3d. Version is 1.05.1.0000

I just purchased the 55 inch and have had it up and running for two days. I'm coming from a 4 year old Samsung plasma. I'm a little concerned with the lighting at each corner. It seems to be dimmer in each corner than the middle, creating a tunnel effect. This is especially noticeable if the screen is predominately uniform in color. It's not terrible but bothering me - are there any settings I can adjust to help fix this? The picture looks great in really bright pictures where there is a lot of color variation. I appreciate any help. Just trying to decide if I want to return and get another plasma.

If you can't get it out with settings I'd return it. I do not have that issue at all and wouldn't put up with it.

How is this TV for gaming? I got a 55in to replace a plasma because I don't feel comfortable gaming on a plasma. I don't necessarily like the at times washed out look of this LED vs. my plasma but I think for gaming purposes I need a LED.

Quick question for anyone who has this tv.. Does the tv out dts or dolby digital no matter the input or does it dumb the audio down to 2ch?

70" didn't arrive at my local Costco today, hopefully tomorrow.

Looks like the guy above hit a 70 today with an even newer firmware version. Interested to see what this new 1.05 firmware brings.

I am trying to choose between the 70R550A Sony (which I have seen and loved at BB) and the Vizio M-Series 70 incher due to hit the shelves next week. From what I have read, they are very similar. But the Vizio boasts local dimming, while the Sony does not. Does anyone know of any other differences between these sets that I can use to help me decide when I try to see these side-by-side in the near future? They are nearly identical in price. But I am really concerned about the local dimming problems on the right side that were briefly mentioned earlier in this thread. Anyone else having those issues lately?

Keep in mind that the A2 and A3 tv's may have different firmware numbering if they have 'different guts'. Hope your Costco gets them in tomorrow, my amazon 70" is coming tomorrow, ahead of the June 19th estimate they list on my order status!

I'm in the same boat. My main concerns with the 70r550A is the off angle viewing (which seems to be endemic) and the dirty screen effect (which seems to be hit or miss). The M-series seems to have some DSE complaints and no off angle complaints (so far). That said, very few people have been able to test the 70" M-series since it has just come out.

Can any of the 70" owners comment on off angle viewing? How far from center can you get before colors/light becomes washed out?

I called Costco and they confirmed it was there and they are holding my 70" for pickup at 10am when they open. Can't wait!!!
Not sure if this s the same with all costcos
but this is the Kirkland branch which happens to be the first Costco, hence the Kirkland brand they have in stores.

Just got the 70".. When I first turned it on I was wowed.. Then the first black screen hit holy ****. The light bleed was horrible. I could see where every single beam of light was coming from. On lit up scenes from jurassic park everything looks great.. I'm going to swap it out and hope it is just a defect.

There is more bleed that's not showing cause my camera is horrible.. I'm going to swap it out.. Test it at the store, and if it's still bad. Then check out other tvs

Have you tried the local dimming yet to see what it does? I used local dimming for the first 4-5 months on my 2012 model,

Keep in mind these are edge-lit TV's bud ... I challenge you to find me one that doesn't have some sort of light bleed and flashlighting ... heck the brands that cost twice as much have just as much as that if not more.

I have the 70" E-Series right now and it has way more then that one does ... plus it also has some clouding mixed in with the corner light bleed.

All is see in your pics is a little more then normal in the bottom right and a tiny bit at the top left ... I'm sure the pic doesn't show a little bit in other areas but your always gonna get a little bit in other areas ... that's just the downside to a very thin edge-lit TV (I wish they would bring back cost effective rear-array sets in this size ... I have a 4 year old Vizio XVT that is rear-array that kills anything I have seen lately ... but unfortunately I want bugger then 55 in the living room)

It's gonna be an upgrade foe me regardless, but if that's all your concerned about ... be happy cause that's really not to bad for a huge edge-lit TV, I guarantee if you swap it out it will be exactly the same if not worse.

Trust me ... your TV is fine.

Assuming it's worse than the picture it's way worse than any bleed I have
