Up in the air for only ONE reason .. the light bleed .... hoping maybe I give it a month or so and try a new one that it would be better.
The PQ is OUTSTANDING .... 3D is just stunning.
This TV is everything I want really.
Just wish the light bleed was not so bad ... Plus to the Local Dimming on an edge-lit TV is a bit of a joke ... and once you turn it off its bleeding central (though the auto brightness helps a bunch when LD is off).
With Local Dimming on watching something it's the blackest blacks and looks Killer .... It's is a little funky when bouncing in and out of menu on TiVo with it very light and brightening on every other menu screen ... really weird.
Haven't watched say a scary dark movie yet to get a feel for how the local dimming does on something where it's dark all around but an object in the middle of the screen .... when I see this on menu's and no signal logo on an input its a huge light from both sides trying to shine light on the object in the middle of the screen with the rest of it drak ... its just a bad looking light streak on both sides and looks weird .... I doubt it will be any different on a movie with a very dark scene.
Really I'm not sure yet ... to soon to know where I'm at .... just not as happy as I wanted to be due to the Light Bleed and hokey pokey Local Dimming ..... plus I found a slight tinge of dirty screen effect when I was watching recorded US Open tonight on the dark green grass as the picture moved .... not as bad as the last TV bud dammit it was there.
But I tell you what aside from those two issues this TV is Spectacular .... It's just impossible to find a perfect TV no a days.
They are making these so cheap ... and I'm not saying just Vizio, all these crappy edge-lit tv's from all these makers now with rediculous 240/480Hz junk that's fake and no rear-array except for 5K+ TV's, with funky local dimming that doesn't work .... they make em so thin now that why wouldn't you see light cause the bright ass strip of LEDS is about in millemeter away from the edge of the bezel now ... all TV makers are happy since we bought into Thin ... thin means low quality all the way around and Thin means VERY cheap to make for manufacturers .... We Did This ... now we're stuck with it. I guess.
I'm just a fan a good size bezel, good thickness to a TV with rear-array LED so you get killer PQ and blacks and the local dimming Actually Works!!!!! It's only been a few years now but really "They Don;t Make Em' Like They Used To!"
From 1 to 10 ...... I'm about a 6/7
Time will tell .... I'm Sooooo sick of TV shopping though
Is it worth what I paid .... 2300 .... not sure yet .... the PQ is for sure and definitely the 3D .... but the TV's uniformity issues just may kill yet again another model!
More to come as time passes.
