I am torn between the VIZIO M701d-A3R, Samsung UN65F8000, and Panasonic TC-P65ST60. They all have great reviews and I'm sure I will be thrilled with whichever one I choose. I plan on putting the TV in my basement, which does have some ambient light via a window and double doors leading outside. This is why I am shy about the plasma. That being said, I have read the picture quality of the Panasonic is superior to that of the Vizio and the Samsung (plasmas are still the king). I will be using the TV mainly for watching sports (football), movies, and casual gaming. I hope everyone isn't tired of answering these "vs." questions, but I would really appreciate someone's input. Bottom line, will I be disappointed with the Vizio over the Samsung or the Panasonic?
I can't help to much overall, but just some things to think about.Price:
Here the Samsung should be considered ... If you want to spend over 1K more a TV that's 5" smaller then the Vzio M and more then likely no better I guess to each his own ... with this factor the Vizio and Panasonic are the only two to consider I would think. (plus the Vizio is STILL cheaper and you get and extra 5" ... and as we all know an extra 5" goes a long way!)Apps:
All a gimmick in my opinion but I think the Samsung will take this down ... the others have apps but I think Samsung would be the winner here3D:
Active vs. Passive again .... for me I HATE active .... so if you want 3D with heavy rechargeable glasses and really (contrary to what some people say) a worse viewing experience then the Sammy and Panasonic are for you ...... BUT if you want a better picture, brighter, and IMHO Way better 3D PQ then the Vizio wins Hands Down (and for me the 3D is the best I have seen) due to it's Passive 3D experience.Screen Reflection:
Not sure about the Sammy here but though the Vizio has a "slightly" more reflective screen then most matte screens in their line ... the Panasonic will have WAY more reflections then the Vizio .... and I would go out on a limb and say the Samsung is about the same if not worse then the Vizio (I bet knowing the past screens I have seen it is worse. I would say Vizio wins in this category for sure.Picture Quality:
It's far to say that Panasonic will win the PQ award out of these 3 Hands Down! ... I am not a fan of Plasma at all (Image retention/Burn in issues are Horrible and they are room heaters and cost WAY more to run each year) but they do hold the outstanding PQ award no doubt. The other 2 well that you will have to read here and the samsung thread and figure out yourself.Ghosting/Halo effect and Smooth Motion:
The Panasonic will win here as well .... they are the best at this. I have seen MANY Samsung with some of these issues (Sharp is horrible in this arena as well) though the Vizio if GREAT at being a LED TV and handling this type of thing.
Not much more small basic stuff I can think of ....
But if it we're me I would still be going back to the Vizio for a few reason .....1. Price 2. 3D 3. bigger 4. No IR or ghosting issues 5. Just other small basic things I think the Vizio wins in.
You can;t go wring with any of them .... just weigh out the pros and cons and go with what feels right for you!
