Well, I've had my 70 inch for almost a month now. As you can tell from all of my previous posts, I am extremely happy with my set - especially at this price point. This set is better than the new Sony 70R550A that I returned in June. The only other set I was considering was the Samsung 64F8500 plasma. But it is $1400 more, 6 inches smaller, and not without some of it's own small issues. Up to now, I had not mounted my Vizio or filled out my warranty or product registration, in case I decided to return it. But since I haven't been able to find anything that would make me want to return this beautiful set, I went ahead and mounted it in my entertainment center. (Mount is a Sanos Simplicity SLF4 full motion mount). My setup is Cincinnati Bell DVR, Pioneer BDP-62FD Blu-Ray, Pioneer SC-1522K AVR, Def Tech 8060BP fronts and center, and Def Tech Pro Monitor 1000 rears. Based on Scott's recommendation, I purchased the Logitech Smart Control universal remote. This remote is amazing! It controls everything, and it has replaced 4 remotes! I have it set for basic functions like "watch tv" or "watch a movie", but it can be programmed to do so much more. I will be adding functions to it over the coming weeks. I am running everything through a Panamax M8 - AV - Pro power conditioner, and I am using Mediabridge HDMI cables from Amazon. Honestly, I couldn't be happier with my set-up. Furniture is coming in a few weeks, so I should be good to go for football season!

Does anybody else have a Galaxy S4? I feel like there is no reason to buy the logitech when my phone has an IR emitter.

This is cool, you can use other services like VPN to maybe get around an ISP block to SuperHD

Going to research more...

Below is a link from CES with a quick overview...I linked the Youtube clip to start at the correct time.

CES - Vizio's "Big Daddy" Soundbar

this looks like it cooouuuullllllld be the 54"... some strange details though. 3.0?? not 5.1 or 7.1??

@rex Harrison I only get blooming with smart dimming on. However, with dimming off there is some light bleed that makes itself apparent. Not terrible, but it's there.

Speaking of smart dimming, does anyone happen to know if it adversely affects lag in game mode?

The picture is actually quite deceiving. This is the TV room in the basement I just finished. It is approximately 18 x 20. But the couch and recliners will be 13 - 14 feet back from the screen. I took the photo standing in the adjoining bar-room area. You are correct, the TV does look small in the picture, but we all agree it is plenty big enough from where we sit. biggrin.gif

Funny. I was thinking the same exact thing. The screen looks really small in that picture. I have a fairly large family room (24X22) and my 65 inch Panasonic plasma definitely doesn't look that small. That must be a gigantic room.

What is REALLY amazing is to think of how fast we have adopted and gotten used to these gigantic screen sizes. It wasn't all that long ago that I had an old Trinitron 36" tube set, and I always marveled at how "big" it was.....Now in the same exact space I have a 70" set, and while it is pretty damn big, it somehow does not seem as dominating as the old Trinitron did.....I guess high def and flat screens will do that to one's sense of scope!

Here is another shot. But looking at it online, it still doesn't convey just how big the screen actually is. Maybe it is due to the room being wider than deep, or due to the 9' ceiling, or just my cheap camera? Anyway, in real life, it is plenty big enough. We really do enjoy it. The TV and all the accessories I bought for it have all worked flawlessly. I'll be happy to answer any questions you all have about any of my equipment.

might have to do with your camera zoom

Anyone else notice with the 1.08 update on their 60" TVs they removed the option to "check for service update" option? Maybe they got tired of all of us spamming looking for our updates.

Had my 60 inch for a few weeks now and liking it overall, but I have a couple questions:
1. Is there anywhere I can find patch notes for these firmware updates
2. Any word on when they will be adding the wi-fi capability for the remote? The TV itself is pretty great, but this remote sucks bad and seems to have maybe even gotten worse since I bought it.

No word on the WiFi update other than "summer".

Well, after 1 week ownership of the 80" M, my 1.08 update came through yesterday. I had to recalibrate since the update took it back to factory setting.

It's definitely the wall that it's mounted on. The width of the wall makes it relatively smaller. I have a 65" with a viewing distance around 10' and it's perfect. Feels like the theater while watching movies on tvs this size. I wish I had the 70" instead; who wouldn't, but had to stick to a certain budget. Spent about 3k for the new setup, including the PS4 on pre-order. Nice setup you got there. Hope you enjoy it like the rest of us owners.
Vizio- who would of thought we would own these tv's. I know I sure didn't.

"Service Check" is now located at the bottom of the System Information screen.

If anyone owns a Vizio M551D-A2R could you please tell me if you have any of the following issues regarding Xbox 360 and or PS3.
1) Any input lag at all
2) Any ghosting what so ever.

I'm very picky when it comes to both so any insight would be greatly appreciated !!!!

Thanks

Thats a very good question. By all accounts its a very well received remote. One has to wonder at times what drives the non-sensical decisions companies make (aka, Roku's new requirement that a CC must be used to activate Roku box and Apple's switch to Hideous bubblegum color palette icons).

If you can spare the change, get yourself a Harmony Smart Control and you'll never look back.

Got my 70" TV up on the wall yesterday - yay! I'm very impressed so far.

STarting to calibrate with my Spyder Datacolor.

One thing I noticed ... I have Dish network for my receiver, and I noticed while watching content on dark screens I get these little white dots that flicker on the screen, not really that noticeable from the couch but if I get near the TV it's pretty obvious, probably just a pixel each. I am pretty sure I only see this on Dish. I never noticed it on my older 58" TV, I don't know if that is because the TV was a bit smaller or something else is going on?

Also does anyone recall the settings for the 70" TV that they used? The Spyder corrects for brightness, contrast, tint, and color but doesn't adjust sharpness or the fine-tune settings that are available.
