Hey B-Side Gamer,
Just wanted to let you know that I returned the 40" model and got the 32" model 'temporarily' before I can invest in something really good and more high-end. Want to know something crazy? The blue smearing is completely gone. All of it! Not a single trace. Nada! (btw, I replaced the 40" set twice before getting the 32" and each time the smearing was there).
So....it seems there is some bizarre defect with the 40" models. It's ridiculous and I can't figure out what's causing it. What's also strange is that the image quality was better on the 32". Not because it was smaller, but because it was smoother...even though they have nearly identical response times. Since I review games for a living, my eyes have become very sensitive to the motion/judder/ghosting effects, and I was very surprised that this model was superior to the 40". Kind if strange, because people who had the 50" or higher models also didn't have the same issues as folks who had any of the 40"+ models.
Awesome. Maybe that's the route I should have went but no... after three Vizio sets that didn't work for gaming so well... I started shopping angry which is never a good idea. I probably would have been fine with an M 1080p 32" if I gave it a try but no. I gotta agree though that maybe there was some bad batch of the or something of the 40" that landed in my area.
