This sounds similar to post #7474?

Thanks. I found the issue. My AC66 ASUS router updated the firmware, and all of my devices kept the old DNS information. For some reason or another none of my devices would refresh their DNS. I ended up adding all my devices MAC addresses and given them static IP addresses. This fixed the issues.

Also for best performance position your TV so your eyes (height Wise) are center of the TV.

I have two questions about my tv (60 inch version).

1) I have a Harmony 1 remote. Whenever I do an activity that causes and input switch it doesn't work. I have already tried extending the delay in the action and that didn't fix it. I have read about the issues with the ir receiver being in the bottom left of the tv, but I don't think that is related because I have tried specifically aiming there and it still experiences this issue sometimes. I should add this is intermittent, but probably happens 85% of the time.

2) Because of the way the coaxial port is positioned the wire has to bend to be plugged in. This puts pressure on the plug and that pressure causes the signal not to come through. Anyone else run into this and have a solution?

1. More info, such as whether your setup includes a receiver and where the TV is plugged in for power, may help us find a solution. Normally though increasing delay does solve this.

2. Is your TV wallmounted? There maybe L-shaped adapters out there you can find to remedy this issue.

I'll have to go back and look at what setting I changed, but my Harmony 650 was having an issue where if you start an activity from everything off that required the TV to change inputs from what it was on before (i.e. watch TV in the morning after having been on Blu-Ray the night before), the TV wasn't getting the signal to change inputs. Or it wasn't processing it or something. There was some default setting that was like 16 or 17 seconds, that I changed to 10 seconds, and now it works perfectly pretty much every time.

Yeah, setting it longer isn't always the way to go. The best way to figure out what to set for the delay is to just turn the TV on and count the time it takes before you can send another command to it and set that as the delay.

On the subject of Harmony remotes, my older Harmony 520 works so much better than that pos remote that came with the TV. Hard to believe how much more responsive the TV is to the Harmony compared to the Vizio remote.

And it still blows me away how Vizio decided to include such a crappy remote with a nice TV like this. I understand that the remote should be much better when it is connected through wifi, but until I get that extremely elusive new firmware (that was supposed to come any day now for the past 4 weeks) this remote remains totally worthless to me.

Strange, my coax plugs in without any bending at all. How are you positioning your TV and how long of a cable are you using?

I agree with you on the remote issue. I also can't believe why it is taking so long to update. It would be nice for Vizio to let you do the update manually as well.

I just had a thought... do you have to register the TV in order to get updates? I'm not sure so I went to the Vizio website and registered mine this morning. It took me through some Square Trade page, but I declined any warranty since I already purchased the 5-year protection from Best Buy.

I can tell you this, registering your television certainly does not seem to expedite the process of receiving the firmware update. (If it does, I would hate to imagine how much longer it would take w/o registering)

How much does a 5-yr plan cost from Best Buy?

I had the two year extended warranty from Best Buy, which was $179.99. After registering my TV, I too was offered the Square Trade warranty, which was 3 years for $79.99. Needless to say, I bought it. I then went back to BB and got a $179.99 refund. biggrin.gif

which of the two serial numbers did you use? Also, that registration form is kind of a joke, since the serial number is marked as optional input field rolleyes.gif
post #7545 of 8763
I went ahead and reset my TV the other week hoping that would somehow speed up the firmware process (I was actually hoping the TV would do a check upon a fresh reset for a newer firmware, but no) and did the whole registration thing on the TV which I'm pretty sure I skipped the first time. Needless to say, I'm still waiting.

I was told (by a Vizio rep) I'd probably have my update over the weekend, that was 2 weekends ago. Now Vizio won't even answer my messages to find out if I missed it or was skipped over. This has to be the first piece of electronics I've owned where I couldn't download and install the firmware. Starting to wonder if they quit sending them out.

ummm wow you got shafted on that deal from BB. My 5-year plan from BB was $119.99.

I double checked and I do have the correct tv setup.

1. I do have a receiver, it's an Onkyo 607. Tv and receiver are both plugged in to a power strip that is plugged into the wall (along with about 7 other devices)

2. It is not wall mounted. I will check into getting an L shaped adapter as that definitely seems like it could solve the issue.

I will try doing this tonight, I had originally tried increasing the delay, but maybe decreasing it is actually the way to go.

I have the tv sitting on top of an entertainment stand. I actually tried 2 different cables and both had the same issue. I might have a third one around somewhere that is a different manufacturer. I will try and dig that one out and see if it is a bit different. Someone earlier had mentioned an L shaped connector, which definitely seems like it could solve the issue.

Thanks for the help and ideas everyone. I will give these things a try tonight and hopefully it will solve my issue!

If you have a receiver and the TV is plugged into it, you may need to check the delay on the receiver as well as the TV itself if you're changing inputs on both devices when you change activities.

Regarding the Harmony issue I was having, in case anyone else runs into it. Turns out there was an update for the tv pushed out by Logitech. I went into the device menu in the app on my computer and then into the Troubleshoot section. That is where it informed me that an update was available. I updated the device and now it works perfectly! Previously it was scrolling through the inputs to select a specific one, now whenever you switch activities it goes directly to the input.

On my 650 I hold the Help button for a few seconds to get to the advanced menu, choose the TV, then adjust the Power On delay to 10 seconds. I think the default was like 17 or something.

Well I know but I meant originally. $179 is outrageous for a 2 year warranty.

Is anyone using wireless headphones? I was hoping my older Vizio bluetooth headset (XVTHB100) would work but it seems like these are now just paperweights.

I was just curious on other peoples opinions for calibration blu-rays.  I bought both Disney's WOW and Spears & Munsil 2nd Edition and for me and my tv the Spears and Munsil was way better than the Disney WOW.  I read a lot of good reviews on the Disney WOW blu-ray but it just didn't make my picture look very good.  The contrast was much different than what the Spears and Munsil had.

Another thing to note is I wrote Spears and Munsil an email and it was answered in a few hours which was really helpful.  I was asking about the Color and Tint settings as I couldn't get the green box to be completely black on the blue filter test.  I was told most newer tv's you shouldn't have to adjust the color and tint much so if I couldn't do the test correctly then I shouldn't do that part of the test.  Well I can say my new Vizio M601D-A3r looks amazing.

Just curious if anyone else had any luck with the Disney Wow blu-ray.

I too am an avid Spears & Munsil fan I have both blu ray editions.

robs1011,

Welcome! Care to post your settings for those of us with too little patience? I use a slightly tweaked version of Ursa's settings posted in the forums, and am very happy, but...it'd be nice to see variations.

Thanks!

I definitely will do that when I get home tonight.
