Official Vizio M-Series Razor Mxx1i thread - Page 258

Just got my firmware update (1.09.44.0090) on my 70" M series A3.(Bought it in December)  Love the new wifi remote. The only setting that it changed was the auto dimming feature. So I had to turn it back off. All other settings remain unchanged. Still love the 3D on this TV. Just wish the new reference series would have had 3D. Still love this TV though :)

I had the 65" and took it back and got the 70". The 65" had too glossy a screen. Also had hot-spot issues on the panel. The 70" was flawless and has more of a matte screen to it. I'd recommend the 70" over the 65" anyday.

I have the M70 and recently downloaded the firmware update. It reprogrammed my remote to use my Comcast box. However, when I press "MENU" now it opens up the Comcast cable box menu and not my TVs menu to change the picture settings. What do I press to access my TV menu?

Thanks

Thanks Chris. I am not to worried about a glossy screen. My Samsung A750 has one and it makes the picture just pop a little more. What are hot spots? I am leaning more towards the 70 just because of the size smile.gif Thanks for your input.....Do you use a PS4 or PS3 at all?

M70 here.

X1 and PS4

BF4/Forza look and play great on it.

Movies are great on it.

TV great on it.

If anything I want an 80 now.

Bigger the better

i am being driven crazy here with my vizio. i can't get mov files to play over dlna, transcoded or not. programs pick up the vizio tv, but nothing plays when i click on the movie in the tv's media menu.

more importantly, i can't get mkv files to even show up when i plug in my external usb hard drive into the tv. other files on there show up, but no mov files show up. i looked online and someone said to rename the fie extension, but that does not work, as even if i rename it, .mkv is still added at the end. this tv is driving me mad, i feel like punching it.

Doooooo It!

Costco so that if they drop the price within 3 months of your purchase they should give you a refund.

I finally just stopped caring about all the nitpicking on the inherent edge lit issues and just bit the bullet and spent the 2K.

Best decision I made, this TV kicks all kinds of ass made all the more sweeter with the low price for a 70.

J Y that's what I am starting to think.. 2 grand for a 70 and the great warranty from Costco is worth it I think. Heck my Samsung A750 52 inch was $2400 open box. 70 inches for $2000 and 3D wow.....I wish the 2014 Vizios had 3D. I would have waited for the P series, but stupid on their part. I would rather give up the smart part for 3D 4K P series. I do not need a smart tv...I have a PS3, PS4, Yamaha 671, and a Samsung Chrome book for all the smarts I need in the living room.

You and I are 100% on the same page.

I'm bummed that 2014 4K didn't have 3D, I would've waited if so.

I have "smart TV" on every device in my house, I don't need it on my TV.

3D for me much more important than another smart device.

To me the 65" panel had backlight issues. Where the panel was not uniformly lit. Yes, this can be a problem with any edge-lit TV's, but to me, and from reading in the forum, and on other sites and research, it seemed Vizio had panel problems with the odd inch screen sizes. i.e. 55" 65". I really noticed it when there was a dark scene and the upper left of my TV had a brighter spot in it. It was quite distracting. Even with smart dimming on. It still had a "hot spot area" (light leak). I got the 70" and have had no problems at all. LOVE the picture and screen is flawless. I don't have a PS3 or 4 at the moment. I'm debating on the PS4 vs XboxOne. I've got the 360, but have yet to hook it up and see how it looks. Sure hope that helps :)

I just picked up the M55. My screen has a lot of flash lighting. I think I am going to bring this set back and pick up the 60, anyone with the M60 how are your screens as far as flash lighting. I know with LCD you are going to have some screen issues so I expect that, but the one I have is just way to much. I was going to wait for the new M series to drop but I really want 3D., otherwise the PQ is nice on this set.

I had the same issue with the 55". I went with the 60", and the issue went away. However, it is just the luck of the draw.

Can anyone explain the difference between the M601d-A3R and the M601d-A3 (non R) models? I tried searching but couldn't find anything.

Amen lol....Vizio really screwed up on this one.

One has the R at the end and the other doesn't.

Twice as many 3D glasses included is what I was told.

Majority have flash lighting. I first got the 60 returned because of viewing angle and got 55 but the shadow thing on the edge of the screen and returned it and got another 60. The flash lighting still there but I got used to it after 2 weeks and Smart Dimming help a lot. I can not go back to smaller screen after I watch movie on the 60.

The M601d-A3R has 8 pair of 3D glasses and for majority of the retail stores. The M601d-A3 is Costco only and only have 4 pair of glasses.
Isn't that backwards? A3R models with 8 glasses are Costco, Sam's and Amazon and most other retail outlets are just the A3 model with 4 glasses. At least that's how it was back in November.

EDIT: It is right, ooops, I just thought I remembered the clubs giving their customers an extra bonus. I bought my M70 through Amazon and had them match Costco. I guess I was very lucky they did it.

No he had it right, the R is retail best buy etc and have 8 pairs, the non R are wholesale clubs with 4 pair which is what I have.

Thanks

I just hit the 'app' button (whatever it's called) on the remote and select the TV settings icon. With the remote set up to run the DVR and AVR, I actually like it a lot despite all the belly aching about it in this thread. If the color buttons actually worked as they are supposed to with my hopper, I might use it more.

Yup for sure when I have further details I will let you know and maybe we can work something out and get both of ours fixed.

Vizio "tier4" tech support just told me they have stopped pushing out the wifi remote updates due to technical problems for my TV's "model group".  I have a 551d-a2r.  They have no time frame as to when the updates will resume.

And we expect this company to give us top quality TV's in 2014. I keep doubting them more and more.

I would be more concerned if they kept pushing it with the issues
post #7739 of 8821

Just picked up an M55 today. Do all units have the dim bars on left and right side of the display? They're only noticable on light scenes with the backlight turned way up, but there's about 1/4" of slightly dim shadow on both sides. I've heard a few people mention them, but not sure if all 55's suffer from it.

Also, there is a fair amount of flashlighting on solid black screens, but I've never had an LED tv that didn't have this happen to it. You can't notice it when an image is displayed.

Are these issues that I should return until I have a unit without? Do M60's suffer from these issues?

I just got the update on my M551D-A2R today (well, at some point between 10pm last night and 5pm today).
