Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters 3D

Okay, I'll be the first to post this. I like the actors but reading through Wikipedia the movie's release date has been pushed back a few times (usually not a good sign) and is now scheduled for January 25, 2013. You've likely seen the ads on TV already.

The trailers are up:

Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters Official Restricted Trailer #2

Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters Official Trailer #1

Ummmm, yeah I don't know. I guess we'll see.

Yet another dose ala Van Helsing, which is almost enjoyable because of Richard Roxburgh's
ultra over the top performance. Well, almost wink.gif

Ha, well said!

As for H&G, Gemma is no Kate B. smile.gif

I saw the trailer before the Hobbit and it was, surprisingly, halfway menacing, but this just has to be lame - right?

I get a bad feeling about this one....wink.gif

Test screenings were a disaster. This has turkey written all over it.

Without even watching this movie because of the title alone.

This has the look of what is wrong with movies today. And of the foreseeable future too.

Wow, this not some melodrama up for an Oscar....its an action/adventure flick that looks like a lot of fun.

Lighten up guys.biggrin.gif

It's money they could have allotted for something decent.

Wife and I watched the 2D rental last night and we were entertained. Yes, I know it was panned by the critics for many reasons but that did not stop it from making $200 million worldwide with a planned sequel. Everyone in the cast looked like they were having fun and it doesn't take itself very seriously. Lots of modern day speak and it's R rated so there's that. Some Van Helsing and the Grimm: TV series creep in. From director Tommy Wirkola who did Dead Snow.

I may check it out because one of my neighbors worked on the musical score.

I enjoyed it for what it was - Just fun, nothing more. There's good humor and fun action. Gemma looks great in the movie too.

Tell us how it was?

My hunch is it's one of those that sounds like it will be horribly lame - so you go in with LOW expectations. Couple of beverages and it starts off well. Couple more...and the AV is really good and Gemma sure is hot! Couple more and yeah, it's kind of petering out. Couple more and it ends. Was a pretty fun watch! Bluray goes on the shelf and is never opened again. smile.gif

I have a TON of those. smile.gif

I have lots of those types of movies too.biggrin.gif

H&G is my kinda movie. Love the R rating on this. Plus, when Gemma talks dirty it gets my juices going. The Dolby TrueHD 5.1 is top notch too. My one big caveat, they didn't utilize Gemma's sweet, sweet ass. Someone should get a pink slip for that glaring oversight.

In spite of some great AV, that pretty much is the movie.

Hard to believe that it made $200M world wide.

When I was in sales, there was a saying goes something like this: when you throw enough craps on the wall, some will stick!

I must be too old and serious for this kind of junk. The dialogue and the senseless gore got to me.

However, Kate would at least made me watch this one again, like Van Helsing.

Cheers!

Yes, Jack the Giant Killer was definitively better for my taste.

I didn't like it very much. It just seemed to be missing something that I can't quite put my finger on. Love the guy who plays Hansel, but would prefer to see him not playing a guy who probably should have let himself be eaten my the witch. Sorry, was a big no go for this household.

Finally got around to this. Agreed on all accounts. More enjoyable than I thought it would be. See, I didn't say better. tongue.gif But it was a fun R flic with good AV, gratuitous gore and a potty mouthed Gemma. cool.gif

Certainly there were issues with the movie. Renner seemed like he was 15 years too old for the part and needed more coffee but I enjoyed what it had. Kind of reminded me of the Total Recall remake. Great AV, and pretty fun, but when it is over it is out of your mind in a second.
