Hey guys here is what I am looking at doing in my family room. Yall see something I can do better regarding speaker/furniture placement?
TV needs to be there for viewing from kitchen. Furniture can change/move; I want to seat 6.

Proposed 5.1 with in-ceiling speakers:

Current setup (bleh):

Been reading a lot of threads here, very helpful. Thanks in advance!

The proposed setup looks alot better than the current setup. Make sure the center channel is not placed behind the TV. It needs to sit right in front of the TV.

There are no seats in either of those that don't require turning your head to view the TV. Can you put the TV on the wall to the right and the couches against the wall with the 3 windows? That or turn the sectional on an angle that matches the TV.

Thanks! That was ashley's subwoofer graphic. Center channel will be under TV.

No mention of the front and rear speakers, I'll take that to mean that I've got them in good locations? That would be thanks to this forum and other similar threads!

Good points.. we'll look into those rounded sectional sofas too, so then there will be a couple seats in prime viewing area.
Problem with current setup is that is is very closed, hard to get to a seat. If I have an opening between the 2 sofas that makes it better. Full sectional makes it closed again.. =/

Here is the best I could come up with for the tv moved to south wall. Looks like I can use wall mounts instead of ceiling mounts this way... hmm.

It would be better if the surrounds were moved to 90-100 degrees of the headrests of the couch. If there is no space above that long window then move the LR to the back wall so it's symmetrical to the RR. I think the couch layout looks good though. Even with a U shaped sectional you have space to walk through the door straight into the seating area.

A better place for the sub may be between the TV and the LF. You will have to do the sub crawl to see.

hmm ok, was trying to put them at 110 deg. What I've decided to do is gust get a cheap setup for $50 and try hanging the speakers in different places. Then when I get them set right I'll start cutting holes in walls.
