I feel like I got stung by a bait and switch last night. They got me all wound up claiming it was going to be "ROCK" night and playing Rush in the intro and then they do a bunch of Billy Joel and other POP songs. Hey, I like Billy Joel, I even own a Billy Joel CD, but they implied I was going to get a 24oz Porterhouse Steak and all they actually served up were the side dish of mashed potatoes...
Anyway, for me, Burnell was upstaged by a guitar last night. I was more interested in that beautiful green PRS guitar then in Burnell's singing. I can't even remember what song he sung now.
And I'm not sure what's going on in Laz's head and what advise he's getting, but his lower register isn't very good and the couple of times that he switched to falsetto in We Are The Champions sounded much better than the long passages in his forced lower register. That being said, it was still his best performance in weeks.
The only performance that I really enjoyed was Amber's. Although I think she'd be a better "recording" artist than a "performing" artist since she seems to "check out" for a few seconds in every performance and you can see it on her face when it happens.
