Must have:
- 5.1 or 7.1 surround
- analog to digital conversion over HDMI
- OSD over HDMI
- WIFI network capability
- at least 4 HDMI inputs
- zone 2 output (RCA)
- Airplay (preferably with ability to have Airplay source on zone 1 and 2 simultaneously)
- No more than 18" depth

Thanks for recommendations!

I just purchased an Arcam AVR 400 and am very pleased so far. Very musical. I originally auditioned a Pioneer Elite SC-65 which had a lot of features, but did not have the same "warmth" as the Arcam. Don't forget that the speakers you are driving will have an effect on the sound with different receivers. For reference, I am using Vienna Acoustics.

You want the best in every aspect you can use for comparison? I doubt there's a winner there. You can't ask 'what's the best car?' and get a good answer. Mostly you'll get responses on peoples' favorite cars. I don't have a suggestion at that price, but I'd be looking at brands that have a 3k model (there aren't that many), making sure they have the features you need, then see which one fits your wants. At that price I'd be wanting some hands on demo too.

From my reading, you can get almost anything for your price point. Integra, Marantz, Denon, Onkyo, pioneer, etc... I just bought a used Integra 80.2 processor for $1300 shipped. Well worth the money for me.

you can get those options from almost any $400-$500 reciever, the question is what do you need that warrants another $2500 in price?
