Backdrop: Wife wants to control volume with our CableBox remote. She doesn't like Harmony or APPs.
1) Prior to getting RX-V473 both of my remotes (TV and CableBox) could control TV volume, as I had no sound system. Want to have control, but with new AVR sound system.
2) Just installed a RX-V473 with 5.1 speakers, (both TV and CableBox do not have ARC) so I 'm using HDMI Control to syc power on/off for TV and AVR with remotes (this work great for both TV and CableBox Remotes). BTW cableBox doesn't have HDMI Control function.
I'm hoping one or both below configuration will permit me to control AVR volume with my TV and Cablebox Remotes.
1) Digital Audio Out from TV to Digital audio IN on AVR
2) TOSlink Audio Out from CableBox to TOSlink audio IN on AVR
These are my only choices, if both work which is better, my CableBox HDMI out got to AVR HDMI In. Obviously AVR HDMI Out goes to TV HDMI In.
