Polk psw111 sub sounds intermittently.

What up everyone. I am experiencing issues with my Polk psw111 sub. It recently began to sound intermittently. It's connected to an Onkyo TX-NR 5008. I have been using it for more than 2 years and no previous issues.

I changed rca cables but it continued with the intermittent issues. The problem also continued when I switched rca outputs from receiver sub1 to sub2.

What I did notice that when I reached a certain volume level the sub began to experience the intermittent issues. If I did not reach the specified volume level it seemed to perform without any issues. The volume level is that of the receiver not the sub volume level. Changing volume level from sub did not do anything.

Any advice on what should be my next course of action would be appreciated.

Sounds like an amp going out. Not much you can do about it or you wouldn't be posting. Not sure worth trying to fix either at that price point.

Kinda sad that after only 2 years it would already be faulty. Well I most definitely will not getting it repaired. But maybe if it gets worse I'll open it myself and see what is going on.

Maybe time for a real sub.smile.gif

Thanks for the response.
