the speaker itself is 9.5" wide x 17.5" tall x 9.5" deep, currently they are sitting on stands which puts the center of the horn at about 45" from the floor. They sound great. Very clear and detailed and they will play very loud, they do lack on the lowend but thats to be expected, they are currently paired with a Klipsch 10" sub and sound great

i have not done a side by side with the Tempests of the Fusion 10s - that will prob happen in a few weeks. but at first glance they are similar in detail and clarity but have much less lowend and midbass ugmph

Thanks so much. Exactly what I need: loud, clear and detail. Planning to build three of them for my fronts to be used with Rythmik sub. I am more of AIY rather than DIY and been waiting for the complete assembled box and crossover from DIYsoundgroup.

yea everything is coming down besides the subs

im not moving those again

you have stands right? the ones we used last time for the Cat8Cs were those yours or did Mark bring them?
If not i can bring some or the stools im currently using for rear stands - which are the perfect height, sturdy and cheap.

Sweet. Can't wait to see folks' opinions of your 8's against much more expensive speakers after the GTG

Crap, I've been meaning to post about that. I do have some small (crappy) stands but they're not going to work for everyone's stuff. I also have some pedestals I built for my Sentinels as well that bring everything about 18" off the ground. I should get a feel for what heights everyone needs so we can rig something up.

I know many on here use their HT mostly for movie watching. But for us gamers Battlefield 3 has some amazing bass output

It was cool to watch this build. Love finding these once complete so I can just view the whole thread. Any feedback on how they compared at the GTG?

The best stuff I buy goes in to my game room, and the living room (where we watch movies) gets the hand me downs.

The Reapers in ME3 produce some good bass as well. Gears of War also.

Many of us were treated with the opportunity to hear a bunch of Adam's equipment this past weekend. Great job with everything man!

Thanks,

Impressions are starting to show up in the G2G thread here http://www.avsforum.com/t/1468211/ne-spring-speaker-shootout-results-thread-april-13-2013/0_100

Personally i love them, (which is good) im very happy with my decision to build vs buy something. As pretty much everyone who has heard them says they are very clear and accurate speakers with great dynamics that will play to pretty insane levels if you want them to. the Fusion 8s are a fantastic little speaker, great clarity and detail out of a tiny footprint, We listened to them on Friday and Saturday and people seemed to enjoy the sound out of them. i think some were happily surprised with the clarity and volume in the high-end. they definitely need to be run with a sub .

we didn’t listen to the Fusion 10s but TBH they sound very similar to the 12s that I’m not sure we would have been able to tell the difference when not running full range

The 12s were run and so were Andrews 15s. With subs these do sound very similar as well. The 15 has a slightly deeper midrange due to woofer size and they can take more power. if we ran them both wide open i think the edge would have gone to the 15s as they just have more bass potential with a larger woofer. Both are tuned about the same, and will extend into or below 20Hz when run full range depending on the room. Phenomenal value for $ Spent. Clear and accurate, huge soundstage & amazing detail. Some commented that they can be a little bright. I would not disagree they can get there but it’s easy to keep in check with some EQing. They do sound different in Andrews basement vs my house, but still very good. Either setup would be able to fill quite a large space with ease

Actually I think once its nice I’ll take one outside and make a video

Many are curious as to how they compare to the JTRs and the Seatons. TBH the Noesis and Cat12s are in another league as they should be. However the SEOS designs get very close to 90% at a fraction of the cost. I feel they can definitely hang with the big boys but Jeff And Mark truly have something very special in their top end offerings. A blind demo between the SEOS Tempests & Sentinels, the smaller Noesis 228’s and the Cat8C’s could be very interesting.

This. It's only a matter of when.... biggrin.gif AT screen in the MF'ing house very soon which will make for easy blind comparisons.

Yeah budddyy, when we doing that one?? I'd be really curious to see what folks would vote for.

Also wanted to say, great job on your builds Adam. They all looked great and most importantly, sound great too! Those 8's really surprised me as well.

thanks Chop. very interested in your mega main project now that i think you have the direction kinda nailed down

Do both the catalyst and noesis use concentric mid tweeter compression drivers? I really think there's something special about point source. So much so I use full range drivers often.

the Cats use a B&C Coax and the Noesis use a horn with one of the BMS Compression drivers

To expand, I believe the B&C driver in the Cats is a variant of the 8CX21 (8" woofer with a 1" CD) that is customized for Seaton. The Noesis uses a BMS coaxial CD (1.4" 4593 or 4594...two distinct diaphragms) mounted on a horn.

I agree with your comment Tux. smile.gif

Well they're both point source then. At least where it counts most. I was turned onto full rangers 2 years ago for that exact reason. Of course they have many other issues.
