Will my speakers get blown

I'm looking at the Onkyo 809, it says 135 watts per channel however my sides and rears are only rated to 100 watts. What does this mean? Will they get blown or will the receiver downscale at all? Thanks.

You will be totally fine. You won't be giving them 135 RMS which is the continuous output.

Also, keep in mind that it is almost always better to give speakers more power than less power.

You only get 135 wpc when you are only using 2 channels. You will be using a lot less when you use 5.1, 7.1 or 7.2 set up.

I guarantee you that if your speakers were rated at 135 watts, and you were bound and determined to do so, you could probably blow them with a 135 wpc receiver.

Speaker watts aren't hard and fast like house fuses.

100 watt speakers + common sense + 135 wpc receiver = happiness

100 watt speakers + intoxicated and feeling wild + 135 wpc receiver = blown speakers.

LoL ok gotcha. Plus I just realized that my fronts and center are rated at 250 and 150 watts so I shouldn't have any issues. Plus my Sub will be pre amped as well. I'm a total noob when it comes to audio like this, would there be a way to calibrate the center and fronts taking more watts than the surrounds, perhaps stealing some watts from them?

Key point is not to drive the amplifier into clipping distortion..
As long as its output is clean a good loudspeaker will handle it with no problem..

Thermal overload from driving a loudspeaker too loud for too long probably damages speakers more frequently than clipping does.
