I hope I am making sense. I hear that the closer you mount, the more brightness, and the further away you mount the more contrast. So, in a room with some ambient light, should I mount it as close to the screen as possible? I have a mits hc4000. Also...is 2fl a big difference? Thats how much brightness i gain for moving the pj 1.5 ft closer and having the zoom fully open (biggest picture). thanks

Best advice is try it.. no 1or 2 fl is not a lot if you are starting with 30, but if you are starting with 16 yes. You would be better off removing the light.
Keep in mind making the image brighter is not going to make the dark areas of the image any darker.
