So it's been sitting for 3 years 10 months and since he does not say
'temperature controlled' warehouse (this is common for classic cars,
it's been subjected to very cold temps in the winter and high temps in the summers.
Any guess what his 'dealer' price was, $3,500?
The Paypal/Ebay fees are $412 if it sells for $5,500.
I hear one of the greatest plasma TVs is in that mountain in Nevada where they store nuclear waste and where the original Kentucky Fried Chicken recipe is.
Even the black helicopter people are afraid to go down there but I know some people here in Alabama that think that not the plasma TV but the recipe would be worth the radiation exposure.

If that's the case, i would most certainly leave it at "normal" room temperature before firing it up for at the very least - 24HRS.
The kuro jokes are not really funny. I detect something else. If you people are annoyed at kuro owners then don't post in the thread. Nobody is asking anyone to post here. Leave us kindly with our "old" TV's.
You can’t find dialogue as creative and clever as what Bubbleboy wrote in most movies let alone a forum. Bubbleboy might be David Mamet incognito. Besides we’re all sharing a laugh about the $6600 Sig 141 for sale on eBay. Lighten up saparano, you have the best tv made...no one is really contesting that. It's the Kuro owners we like to tweak a little.

I haven't admitted it because I haven't SEEN a VT50 in person to be able to make that comparison. ZT60 bettering the 9G panels looks like a pretty long shot.
You might be right. The proof will be in the numbers. Vinnie if I had a 60 inch I'd have held on to my Kuros till oled. But I didn't so I moved to a 65 inch Panny. I gave up a bit in blacks but gained 15 inches and out of pocket after selling Kuro was about $700. Not a bad deal. The Panny is a stunning display and it seems as rich, accurate and colorful as my 9g Kuro. Edited by Glashub - 2/20/13 at 3:27pm
Would the same attitude apply if you owned a 60" Elite 8G Kuro?
Will OLED ultimately be "(our) Kuro replacement?"
I guess the answer is yes, if they want to spend around 12k for a 55" OLED. It will take years for OLED prices to come down, just like plasma took years to come down.
I saw Death Race 3 (a shame about the content, the photography was a stunner) last night and was wowed by my piddly 50-incher again. I don't care to upgrade in size if I can't at least match the depth perception available on this set.
I replaced my 50" Panny plasma temporarily with a 65" Samsung LCD w/ LED edge lighting for a short while until I couldn't stand the poor black levels, flashlighting/clouding and horrendous viewing angle. But I have to say, in all honesty, going back to the 50" Panny, it seems tiny to me now. Dead serious. Weird how you adjust like that. I didn't feel the 65" was a lot bigger but going BACK to 50" is when it hit me. Hard.
^^But that's like saying you went from a 50" down to a 40". Its a massive size difference.....a 50" has a 40% smaller area than the 65". Best option for making that work is putting it in a smaller room and sit closer.
Yes! As the owner of 2 Kuros and 1 65VT50, I can state truthfully...yes the Panasonic comes very close!

65" or greater or bust now.
I find the same thing. I am about 8 months into my upgrade from 50" to 65". I don't know why I waited so long (well I do, but that's a different story about shopping and timing the technology), but my lord I would never go back. Pretty much 100% of content is better when bigger, especially the kind of content one really sits down to enjoy: sports, movies, spectacular nature stuff.

I find that doesn't do the same thing, You can match the same "visual arc used" but you can't convince your brain it's looking at something as big. If you could, we'd stop going to the movies and just watch at home. But big screen still is big screen.

I agree. At the end of the day you can't convince yourself your looking the Statue of Liberty by holding a 1 ft Statue of Liberty replica up to your face. Not the same impact. With that said there are definitely ways to really change how immersive your viewing is by changing the environment.
If you were to take a 50” plasma, put it in a tiny closet like room(say 6 ft wide) and if you were to sit back 6 ft watching bluray content, it would be pretty immersive and more so than a 65” in a giant living room sitting back 15 ft. Two extreme examples but viewing environment is really important as well. At the end of the day I completely agree size is King. As poor as the PQ of the 90” new Sharps LEDs are compared to plasma, they still are really impressive to look at.
50" screen size to me... The sizes of people's heads look far more realistic than a much larger screen. Thats not to say i don't enjoy going to the cinema because i do. But my bedroom here in the UK is only 8ft wide by 12ft in total length. So a 50" krp with side speakers looks pretty big sat in the middle. Still big enough from my lying back in bed position at 10ft. I would never want it anywhere else, as it's my personal living space where i can relax if not busy, play console and watch broadcast hd, sd, and blurays sat at edge of bed about 5ft from screen. If i had a tv that i remotely cared about in the sitting room (which i don't so it doesn't bother me) so 50" of a lesser make and model plasma there suits just fine as it is. But if i did it would need to be (at the very least 80") to compare to the feeling in size as in my bedroom if you see what i mean.

The VT50 i saw wasn't nearly as dark as my krp, and my krp was like an lcd in comparison to the Panasonic 'cleanliness wise'.
Sure all tv's look better peaked out with the correct settings ISF/THX or whatever by professionals. I wouldn't dream (of not) getting a tv/monitor pro calibrated after seeing how nice it looks.
But my point is that a lot of people (the majority ) won't ever get it done. So presets are very important to these people. And thats where Movie and Pure mode (if people that dont want to spend anymore and are interested in quite/very accurate) - even untweaked -win hands down. Combined with good and proper processing which Pioneers have in abundance, and with some to spare.

I don't get it........how? In my house i have a 40" samsung LCD, my family has a sony 55" rear projection in the living room, and my 60" kuro is in my media room. Everything looks better and more real on the 60 inch. Forgetting PQ for a second. Just talking size and immersiveness.
Or are you talking about head size relative to the real world?
Sure, room size has a large effect on perception of screen size.If I put my 65" in my walk in closet, it'll look way bigger. But it can only go so far. I'm not going to replicate the feeling by locking myself in a phone booth with a 21" screen. I think it's because "immersiveness" cannot replicate the sense of space and scale. Standing on your balcony is better than IMAX is better than the multiplex is better than your 110" pj screen is better than your 55" tv.
Incidentally, I don't see how the heck the holo deck on star trek works. Seems like the only way to give you that experience is to tap directly into your brain. In which case why are you standing in an empty room?
