monitor says no signal after boot up

panasonic th-42pw4 about 10 years old and works great with IPAD but I hooked it up to a dell optiplex745 and it cuts off after boot up.
Any info would be appreciated

the computer is running win 8 and I have tried changing the resolution and refresh rates over and over, but the signal quits out of the computer. When hooked up to a lcd or crt it works fine, just the plasma kills the signal. And I have to reboot to get it to show on the lcd monitor, I am perplexed
