3.5mm to digital

Thread Starter
I got a new tv today (55lm6200) and it only has one fixed audio out port which is digital. My previous tv had a digital, 3.5mm and rca fixed out signal to which I could connect my headphones. The headphones come with the 3.5mm male to male (one end into base unit the other into tv). It also comes with a female 3.5mm to rca (red/white). So basically on my last tv I was using 3.5mm (base) to rca (tv) and now my tv only has a digital optical audio out for a fixed audio. Can I get an adapter or something or does this tv render my headphones useless for tv connection

You need to get a digital-to-analog converter, like for example the AGPtek that Amazon is selling for $20.

Then you need a headphone amplifier, which can cost from $30 to $1000.

You can probably go to a local pawn shop or on Craigslist, et al, and find an older used AV receiver with toslink input and headphone jack for less than a converter and separate amp.
