Hi, first off, I'm new here, so I apologize if I'm asking something that's been covered.
I do not have an audio receiver. So I'm talking just about this wireless headphone from Sony :
"(7.1 Virtual Surround Sound
Bring home wireless to the next level with the DS6500 headphones that delivers an epic 7.1 surround sound experience. Many 3D movies include a 7.1 audio mix that these headphones can process, however if you don't have a 3D TV or 7.1 audio mix, you will still get great audio clarity with stereo sound and 5.1 surround sound as well.
The MDR-DS6500 is compatible with a wide variety of audio formats including Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Surround EX, DTS, DTS-ES Matrix, and DTS-ES.)"
It has a digital optical audio (Toslink) in. So I have a bluray player, appleTV, a directv hddvr, and then a 3-4 yr old Sony Bravia HD LCD with a digital optical audio TOSlink out and only 2 HDMI in.
each of the components I listed (besides the TV) have a digital optical Toslink out.
My question is I have been running separate to TOSlink lines into a splitter and then out to the headphones, bypassing the TV's digital out.
Is it better to just run everything with HDMI and the one with component (since there's only 2 HDMI inputs) and a straight toslink out form the TV to headphones or continue as I've been doing it?
And while I'm at it, may I ask which is better PCM or ....I forget the other... I'm sorry. I've read that compression is bad, but the slider on the headphones which turn compression on or off sounds BETTER and louder when compression is ON for the most part.
So does anyone know the answer to my main question?
Thanks, sorry if I rambled or it wasn't clear.
