Plasma TV Screen Slighty Blurry annd screen won't fill the entire TV

Hi,

My PC is running Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium and I have an AMD Radeon HD 6900 Video Card. I have my PC connected to 2 displays, a 24" Apple Cinema Display and a 42" Panasonic Plasma TV.

My PC is connected to the TV by a 25-30 Foot HDMI Cable. I switch between displays, I don't view both at one time. When I switch over to the TV I notice that fonts, Icons and everything being displayed on the TV seem slightly blurry. The TV's Resolution is set to 1920x1080.

Also the screen doesn't completely fill the entire TV. The screen fills about 96% of the TV, there are thin black bars around the screen.

When I connect my older PC the screen fills the entire TV and everything is sharp, clear and crisp onscreen.

Any help is greatly appreciated

You need to open up Catalyst and turn off overscan compensation.

Do you mean the computer video card is set to 1080? If so are you sure your TV is a 1080 set and not a 720?

Oh yeah a 42" plasma? Most definitely not 1080p, although it might accept a 1080 signal. It's probably either 1366x768 or 1024x768.

I have a 42" Panny and even if the signal is 1080 it will display at 720p which is my standard resolution and I believe that's the same on about all 42" plasmas. My ATI setting is for 720p and I didn't have to mess with the overscan on it. Mine is also on a dual display (set to clone) and the monitor is 1080p. My scaling option is disabled in CCC.

Panasonic definitely does make 42", 1920x1080 plasmas.

I stand corrected. That must have been a recent development. Small size 1080p LCDs are common, but for a long time the smallest 1080p plasmas were 50".
