A fan (muffin fan?) with a tube... yeah... I know, sounds crazy.

Here's what I'm after... unless you fine folks have a better idea.

I have a equipment cabinet (receiver, dvr, etc. etc. etc.) It has an open back, but the back is only about 1" from the wall... enough heat is NOT escaping and I feel the cabinet is too warm inside. So much so, that I leave it open, which defeats the purpose of everything being hidden (duh!).

What I'd love is a muffin fan with some kind of flexible hose/tube... (the hose tube would be the "out" side of the fan)...

Has it been made or should I just fabricate it?

Have you looked at Middle Atlantic's line of thermal management products?
Scroll down to the bottom of the page for "cabinet and closet solutions".
You pay for the convenience of a pre packaged system, but their designs might give you some ideas of what you can build yourself.
Read thru the articles on thermal management to see what other modification you may need to efficiently route the hot air where you want it to go. May involve closing off the gap between your cabinet and wall and installing an intact fan too.
Search the forum for closet or rack cooling, lots of good ideas already at your fingertips.
