Which one? Marantz SR6007 OR Anthem MRX700

Just wondering if I could get peoples input in which one they would get. I know there is a $1k price premium for the Anthem, but does that make it better? I'm not worried about connectivity, its all about sound when I watch movies. Speakers are my trusty Paradigm Studio 40's(v3), CC-570(v3) and ADP-470's with a Servo-15.

Kevin, I have had Marantz receivers prior and after upgrading to an Anthem MRX300 and applying ARC (their room correction) all I can say is wow.

2nd best upgrade I've done to my HT thus far.....1st was the SVS sub. wink.gif

So your saying the Anthem with ARC is better than Marantz and Audessy.

Why don't you ask for some more detailed comments on the differences from a guy who owned both? Saying the difference is "wow" is a bit vague, the least to say, eh? IMO, of course. cool.gif

I would never base my purchasing decision on such opinion. biggrin.gif

I would never recommend an Anthem receiver after reading the owner comments about all of their problems with them.

I suggest you do some research on that and then you will not be interested in Anthem any more.

The Home Theater review on the Anthem 300 also reveals that its actual power output is absurdly low; lower than most $500 receivers. That convinces me that Anthem receiver specs are even more absurd than most, and that their prices are ridiculous for what you get.

For around $1200, you can get the Cambridge Audio 551R receiver, which is the best-sounding HT receiver I have ever heard.

Check out the Home Theater magazine review, and you will see that they agree.

List them....

I have owned, in the past 45 years, the following brands of amps, preamps, int amps; Sansui, Kenwood, B&K, Conrad-Johnson, NAD, Nakamichi, Marantz, Outlaw; I would say that my MRX-500,Outlaw 7500 is the best of the lot, for musicality (main factor), HT, ease operation.
....by the way, I don't usually listen to pro reviewers-I purchased my Anthem based on USER reviews form various sources, one of the main ones being this forum and the dedicated thread for MRX models....
