Little book shelf surround or bi-pole?

Then for a 7.1 are the right and lefts usually di/bi-pole's if the rears are or are they bookshelfs?

There is no "usually"; everyone is different, and it's mostly a matter of preference/design, etc. That being said...I like di/bi on the sides (surrounds) and direct-radiating in the rear; but again...everyone is different. Good luck.

The ROOM and the location determines whether dipolar speakers will work well.

I usually advise against them because they just won't work well in many situations.

It is much easier to make the system work well with regular bookshelf speakers.
