digital combination of HDTV signals?

does anyone make an external antenna combination device? after all, HDTV is all digital. so why not sample 2 to 30 different antennas to determine the best guess at what the individual bits are?.
this might even change the current art of guessing antennas into something that is less sensitive.

The radio waves haven't changed. The laws of physics haven't changed. Only the transmitted data is different. The transmission method is the same as its always been.

Antennas don't care what is on the carrier, they just care about the carrier. If it'll pick up a signal, that's all it cares about. In my area, I can literally put up a coat hanger and get most of my local channels, including full 1080i.

It's possible to do what you asked if you can afford it. You need 2 to 30 different HDTV receivers, all tuned to the same RF channel and a processor to do m-out-of-n processing of the outputs in real time to determine which of the eight levels is being transmitted and output the corresponding 3-bits.
