Does anyone omit the center channel speaker by choice?

If so, can you state your reason why? Is it harder to make out dialogue without one? I tend to boost the center channel by a couple decibels, so I'm thinking it may not work too well. I'm going to upgrade our front speakers, and I'm trying to decide what to do. Thanks.
