I tried to clean it with some water on a microfiber cloth but it just made it worse there were smears all over the screen. I then did it over but this time I used one dry cloth and one wet, I wiped the screen with the dry cloth as soon as I used the wet wet one and that got rid of it in that area. Is there any easier why do clean it? Why did the screen get cloudy when I cleaned it the first time?

Panel cleaning comes up from time to time. The safest way to clean any type of panel is distilled water (warmed if need be) and a clean, microfiber cloth. For small stubborn areas, you might try a good quality eye glass cleaner (like what you get from your optometrist). As to the smearing, it sounds like there may have been something on the microfiber cloth that caused the smearing on the panel.

If you cleaned it when the screen was hot or even warm then that may be why it doesn't get the cloudiness off. It's kinda like when you clean your car's windshield when the sun is beating down on it dries before you can wipe it all off.

Glass should be cleaned when it's cold or cool, not warm and especially not when hot. And if your particular brand/model is one that has an Anti-Reflective Filter then be extra careful and don't rub too hard as you can damage the delicate coating on the glass.
