Samsung 46 inch LN46A650 picture

Ok yesterday I had to do some rewiring to my HT so I disconnected my Directv HDMI cable from my Pioneer ELITE VSX-32 AV receiver and connected it directly to my Samsung TV while i was doing the rewiring and was floored by the picture it produced when connected directly. When I bought the TV I remember what a great picture it had. I thought maybe I just got use to the HD picture. But it was a night and day difference. I connected the TV back thru the Pioneer and the picture went back to the dull picture. I went thru the Pioneer's manual and could not figure out if there is a bypass setting so I can get that wonderful picture back. Shouldn't I be able to run the Directv/Sony PS3/Apple TV thru the Pioneer and bypass any video processing and get that awesome picture I get when I connect my devises directly to the Samsung????
