if you can up your budget by $100 you could get these. Dual 6.5" woofers, 1" silk dome, downfiring 8" sub

That's not entirely accurate; at least not in all cases.

For example: the P363 has a better midrange than the P163, and a better (above crossover) LF than the P143.

The advantage goes to the 3-way design there (which happens to be a tower).

One more suggestion to throw into the mix...I just bought several sets of the Pioneer Andrew Jones speakers for our secondary residence and feel they are an incredible value.

I researched them extensively and decided to take a chance. I got the floor standing models for $129.00 a piece which seems to be the normal price, the center for $89 and several pairs of bookshelves at an incredible price of $89 a PAIR. They are certainly not reference grade speakers, but definitely hold their own with speakers several times their cost!

Happy hunting! It's such a let down when you finally pull the trigger, the thrill is in the hunt! (and research and listening!)

I was in this boat/price range and didn't care for the JBL's look and the sound didn't blow me away.

The P363's get rave reviews for the price on this forum and are usually at the top of the list for the sub $400 pair of speakers and towers. And they can be bought in BLACK! smile.gif

Was really looking for tower speakers, and those htd's got me thinking.... dang so many options. but in this situation, gonna stick with the towers and about 95% sure going to get the infinity's for several reasons.
1. Starting next week they are going on sale at fry's for 117.
2. They do sound awesome, better than everything in the sound room, except the 1900$ klipsch
3. The center channel is exactly the right size and sound which I am looking for.

I was auditioning in the fry's for about 2 hours (i'm sure that the audio guy at fry's hates my guts for wasting his time) and also realized that the jbl's aren't even in the same league. They do sound good, but super muddy (too much bass.) I can see them being good for movies and bass driven music (rap and electronic and without a separate sub) but not fantastic for my style of music (operatic metal )(bands like nightwish) and of course gangnam style...

I was really amazed at the sound blending of the infinity, sounded much more put together than the others, where there was a lot of harmonic separation (if that makes sense )

And I really did like those, i think they would have come in 2nd (or tied for second with the polk A9 (799 each)) but i did think the infinity's sound was fuller.

Im on approximately the same budget as you, after doing mounds of research i settled on the FH-6t for towers $250 pair, and the FH6-LCR for the center $100, PL-200 sub for $250 or the F12 for 200 (1000w vs 500w) from BIC America. I too was interested in the primus, but got the BIC anyway even if they were on sale If you look around theyre rated higher than many other popular brands, even ones way out of their price range but cost much less and for some reason are using the same speakers as the Acoustec line of their brand, so its a great deal. check amazon for them and the primus's too thats the best price, or acoustic sound design where you can name your price, thats how i got mine.

Center (similar specs for the towers):

I'm really not a fan of toptenreviews, they just take speaker stats, chew them up and spit them back out, without any real opinion or review. I wish I could audition the BICs, but they don't have them at the fry's I was at.. Mr Knight operator, you wouldn't happen to be in the Phoenix area? It will be a tough battle to compete with the infinity 's as I really really liked the sound quality. Anyone know where I could audition those? Because those speakers are rated really well. But one more question, anyone know anything about premier acoustic?

OK, i have now a new option.... The Bic Acoustech PL-76 jeez this isn't getting any easier... But still 70% on the infinity's, now 30% to the bic (or acoustech) pa-6f

Check amazon, and read the reviews there, they specify which comments are by users that have actually purchased the products. Really positive reviews. There's also an owners thread on here.

I have 4 BIC DV-62s for my rear channels that replaced some crappy sonys which ruining my 7.1.... then i got pissed because they blew away my polk front channels! so then i had to replace them too lol first world problems. I couldn't believe it.

Noted and edited. Unfortunately no, CT, i would definitely have you over and we'd blast the lobby scene from the matrix until our ears bled but no lol. they had them at my best buy awhile back and they sounded great and yes they are rated tremendously well, for there price point. If they were at at a higher price bracket i would not say the same. Check out the acoustech seriesby BIC witht he 8" woofers (PL-89) 98db sensitivity!!!, thats what my dedicated 9.2 is going to likely be.

Ok so fry's has the Infinity p363 on sale for 117, and going to stick with them for my 400 budget, i will finish with 2 primus 153 which are also on sale at frys for 49$ (4 speakers for under 400$ and speaker wire and banana plugs) and find the 351c when it goes on sale. I have until thursday, when i get my next day off to actually purchase them.Unless anyone knows of big sales on brands like premier acoustic PA-6f or bic acoustech, before thursday, let me know.

Its not help when its advice that i don't find relevant. I didn't want white speakers, it doesn't match my decor. As my girlfriend is moving in with me, i would like to have the house as uniform as possible. so if you want to complain how i am treating people who give advice that does not pertain to the topic on hand, go elsewhere. If i say i am looking for a car, i don't need shopping advice on a boat. understood?
Yea, it was a bit on the rude side, but it cut out the people who were refusing to read what i had listed originally. I have a specific desire for what i am looking for and was looking for an opinion accordingly. Thanks for the suggestion, but i cannot iterate enough, that i have 0 interest in bookshelf speakers. i am looking for towers. and under 400 dollars. If you have any suggestions that fit that bill, keep posting. otherwise i am getting the Premier acoustics PA-6f and the center when i have the budget. thanks for your input.

and since the title is sub-400 (that means UNDER 400 US DOLLARS, not 537.)

Go with the JBL ES80's(duel 6"s) they're in your budget and great speakers. I own the ES90'(duel 8"s) and couldn't be happier with them.

Again I listened to those as well, thought that they were good, but the infinitys sounded better , and they are really not designed for a true 100wpc amp, if I had a 50-70wpc amp, I would definitely choose those. What I'm really looking for feedback on is the premier acoustic PA-6f and comparison to the infinity 363s, as those are my final 2 contenders...

Finally some useful advice, i was thinking about those, but do they really sound that much better than the infinity's or premier acoustics? i think i would have middle/upper range of cheaper speakers than the bottom end of a high end brand... but just wondering...
