No. The VT60 is only downgraded in the sense that it is no longer the flagship model. It will probably be a bit cheaper than the VT50 though, because the VT60 uses the same base panel and is kind of just a refreshed version of the VT50 with relatively minor tweaks/improvements and additional features.
And what kind of improvements will the zt60 have over the vt? (excluding the obvious slightly better blacks?)
To some people, slightly lower black levels are important. The VT50 already has reference color accuracy. There are some areas that could be improved, like dither and video processing (which we'll have to wait and see if these get addressed), but black level is the biggest separator between the VT50 and 9G Kuro. I have no doubt that the ZT60 will match the 9G Kuro in black levels, but probably not the 9.5G Kuro.
the vt series has always been great so what is the incentive to choose a zt over a vt?
The flagship model is never the best value. Generally speaking, the more you spend, the smaller the gain. Some people will pay a premium to have the best, regardless of how small the differences are. But as of now, all we know is that the ZT60 has a new (better?) screen filter and better black levels.Edited by rahzel - 1/22/13 at 8:52pm
