Got my Samsung 6187w back in 2006. A couple of weeks ago the screen suddenly started getting really dim. I copped a replacement lamp online somewhere for around 90 bucks.

Long story short, my tv now looks better than it did when it was new, the viewing angles all seem way better and it's much brighter now.

I looked in the service menu and it says I got over 18,000 hours on the first lamp. Is this typical? I thought those lamps lasted more around the 10,000 or less mark.

Anyways, still after all these years I'm satisfied with my choice of getting a DLP.
