Replacing a 32" Toshiba 32c100u with something bigger.

I am looking into buying a 40-44" LED or LCD TV. The Toshiba has worked good, but I have noticed a little bit of input lag on it. I don't have the proper tools to actually test it. I play FPS games (Black ops II, Halo 4 etc). I also stream netflix and watch blu-rays from time to time. What is a decent 42" TV for under 700$? I am not a plasma fan because of burn ins, I know it's not as common now-a-days but It still worries me. Thank You!

It seems from year to year, the standard panel sizes changes. Where 42" was a common size a couple of years ago, it's not so much now. 39/40" and 46/47" are the more common sizes. But there still are a few good 42" sets around.

One you might want to check out is the LG 42LS5700. It's a 42" 120hz LED set. LG also has the LM series which I believe are the 3D versions. And then depending on options, there's the 4500, 4600.

I think you'll find you can get the 46/47 sized sets for about the same price as the 42. I remember looking for a smaller 26" set some time ago for a kitchen area and they were priced the same as a 32" set.

I didn't realize you mentioned the 42LS5700, I really like this TV, do you know how it ranks for gaming? I've heard 120hz tv's are worse but the game mode should take care of that?

I'm not a gamer. Hope someone else can answer that question regarding 60 vs 120hz sets and gaming.

I don't understand why there are only a few high end 32- 40+/- size sets. Besides $$. I'm sure many people including myself don't want or can't put a larger screen in a bedroom/ small room. I still would like a top quality set though. I think Sony is coming out with a nice 32 inch set, I just don't get a super thin light weight 55++ inch set for every room in your house. Why those features are even features. I don't know many people who move their sets on a regular basis. Back to my point I would rather have a XBR 40 inch set as an option instead of all the larger inferior models.

I got the ls5700, its a decent tv, the soap opera effect is pretty cool when you're high.
