I was looking at the prices and wondering if they are worth their asking price.

Which specific Marantz receiver cost 3 times as much as your Denon 1613?

Doesn't sound like you're comparing apples to apples.

you can't compare receivers and give them specific numerical worth so that something is 3x better

Well they are both home theater receivers so it's apples to apples. The sr7005 I believe it was.

You're comparing the SR7005 to the Denon 1613?

Entry level receiver vs top of the line model? You could then ask the same question is the Denon 3313 or 4311 worth 3 times as much as the 1613. Really has nothing to do with Marantz.

At least compare models with similar feature sets.

Very true but I just happened to be looking at Marantz receivers.
