Thanks for reviewing it, Ralph!

The 3D version looked okay, and I'm going to watch this one again, but in 2D this time around. Is it just me, or does it seem that Lena Headey is really enjoying playing these "bad girl" roles recently? smile.gif

I agree with Gbaby

Just watched this in 2D and found myself enjoying it slightly more than the 3D version. This is another film that I'll never be able to get the wife to watch because of the non-stop violence, but I'm not bothered by it since it is fiction and most of the violence is demonstrated in such a way that it doesn't seem overly real in nature. Planning to watch it again in a week or two then put it away for a while unless friends or relatives come over wanting to see it.

Thanks again, Ralph!

Saw a C2E2 panel with the 2000 AD guys and some of them were wishing it hadn't even been in 3D. It also sounds like there isn't going to be a sequel, I don't think that is news.

If it wasn't in 3D then I wouldn't have bought in. I wish it had done better at the box office so we'd could look forward to a sequel.

If prometheus can get a sequel, so can Dredd :-)

Prometheus brought in just over $400,000,00 worldwide on a $180,000,000 budget.
Dredd brought in just over $35,000,000 worldwide on a $35,000,000 budget.

Prometheus made money, Dredd didn't. Prometheus gets a sequel, Dredd doesn't.

It's a shame, I'd love to see a Dredd sequel myself.

Thanks for the great review. I just watched it also and thought it was pretty good. Great non-stop action and entertaining. A good no brainer.

Almost identical plot (cop gets locked in a building and have to fight for survival against the tenants). The Blu-ray video and audio quality is not nearly as good as Dredd, but some action sequences are respectable.

The question I have is Dredd a Hollywood remake of the The Raid: Redemption?

Definitely not. They are a bit similar in that it's all about one building....but to be honest, The Raid bored me to tears with mind numbingly tedious and overly long action scenes. Dredd was just pure awesome start to finish (not taking into account the poor 2D PQ).

This Dredd is on its way to me. I never liked the original with Stallone hamming it up. His "I am 'da Law!" was bellowed the same way as "I didn't do anything. They drew first blood!"

This is the big day for trying to get enough attention to get a Dredd sequel made. Twitter @DreddSequel for details. Or check @2000AD. Trying to get people to buy, rent, or stream it today. Seems like they are having success at least looking at Amazon charts in the UK.

Good luck!  I'm not a social media guy but if I was, I'd participate.  This version of Dredd deserves a sequel I think.

Nice link! Great to read us fans are making enough noise so as to at least have the right people (Karl Urban et al) start "conversations" on making a sequel! cool.gifcool.gifcool.gif

Really got a kick out of that "Dredd Poets Society" picture! biggrin.gif
