Would a 120" screen too big? 11' x 24' room and a 120" Elite fixed frame screen

I'll be watching from 11-12 feet using a BenQ w1070

Personally I would say it's not too big. I have a 120" at 14', and I've moved the couch up a few times to enjoy a slightly closer view..

i had a 120" with the first row seating at about 14' and found i enjoyed watching from the back row at 20' MUCH more. i was planning on dropping down to around 110" but ended up rearranging the room and have now ordered a 100"

i've always kinda been the bigger is better with projector kinda guy, i mean it's not like a tv where going up 5 inches doubles the price, so why not go as big as the room allows? but i just found it overwhelming

if you've already got the projector, put a picture on the wall and see what it feels like. i think it'd be too big for me, but you might love it.

the distance is not the issue. its the space between the screen and the side walls. only you can decide what is good(enough). i had my 120" in a 12' wide room. and that was pretty close to "pushing it", with the towers on the sides of the screen.
if you do it, you had better paint your walls a flat dark color.

none of you guys own bedsheets you can 'try' with?

if you've got the projector, light up a wall, or whatever you can and see how it feels. personally i find there to be an issue with screen height, more than width. with the 120" i had, watching 2.35 movies was very enjoyable, but 16:9 stuff made me want to lean way back to try and take it all in. there's really no way to know how YOU will react until you try it.

i think a good question you ask would be when you go to the theatres, where do you try to sit? near the back, near the middle, near the front, don't care?

I think the issue is less screen size and more what that screen size does to everything else. In that layout, your side speakers are pressed up against the wall. This wreaks havoc on your audio, as they really should have more space. Just my personal opinion.
