Suggestions on where to purchase inexpensive speaker stands locally?

Otherwise pretty much anything actually made specifically as a speaker stand and sold locally is likely going to be overpriced... you're probably looking at $70-$100 for anything at your local Best Buy. Do you have any scrap lumber you could bang something out of for temporary use? This is what I did, but temporary turned in to the last 3 years of college...

I bought a pair at a garage sale for $5, but I was planning ahead. you don't come across them too often. Walmart has some metal ones that are good for satellites.
Maybe an estate sale, where you find more furniture/household items
