NHT SW12 Died now what?

My SW12 died so now I'm looking for something new. My current setup is NHT ST4 towers, SB2s for surrounds and SC2 center driven off a Yamaha RX-V3800 (next item to be replaced). My budget is around $1000 for the sub but willing to go higher if it makes sense. From the reading I've done sounds like either the HSU VTF-15H or Rythmik FV15 would be a good option?? This is mainly just for movies and TV. Would it make more sense to get two subs? My room isn't that large but it’s kind of open. Any advice would be appreciated as I haven’t really looked at speakers in years.

What did you sub die of? Can the part be replaced or is this simply a good time to upgrade?

For reasons of smoothing out the nulls in a room, two lesser subs are better than one greater sub so based on your OP, it's pot luck which way to go.

Yes, it would make sense to buy two subs. Can you stretch you subwoofer budget and if so, how much can you realistically stretch it to?

As a starting recommendation; dual, SVS, SB12-NSD subs.

This sub, the PSA, XS30, has two 15" subwoofers in the same cabinet and makes it a bargain.

I have high regard for the Rythmik line but a pair of what I like in Rythmik, exceeds your stated budget by a lot so I'm hesitant to recommend that line.

Not sure just doesn't work anymore so using that as an excuse to the wife to upgrade. I could stretch it to $2,000 if needed, or what would you recommend in Rythmik regardless of price?

A pair of E15's. It has all the whistles and bells and by comparison to others, a small form factor with an excellent WAF.

Price wise, a step down in price, I'd go with a F-12. Not as powerful of an amplifier but still excellent depth, smaller form factor, smaller price and there-by, higher WAF.

The reason I don't mention the FV15HP, is because of it's size, low WAF.

Hope the above gives you some direction.
