There are independents producing music of thier own in the format. The last offering by Donald Fagen that is a nice album, was not done in 5.1. HE said that people liten to pc speakers anyway so why bother? Well, I listened to Sunken Condos and like it!
But! Morpk was surround album of the year in the Grammies. I will NOT be buying this album just to protest his piss poor choice. The fagen/dan 5.1 stuff is some of the best made in 5.1. And, with the award of Morph, there is no excuse to disapoint the other half, who still enjoy the format.
In closing, HD tracks if offered 5.1 downloads would get my money in a heartbeat! I have a storage device and know how to use it, but will not settle for less.
