A noobie with questions.

So I recently got a Denon AVR 3311 and I was looking at buying something and I kinda stumbled across the DIY forums and my interest peaked a little bit. I'm curious what you guys would suggest for plans for a 2.1 system focused on music, while I use my existing BIC DV62si speakers for surrounds (unless they are not worthwhile compared to what I would be building)

I currently have to fill a room that is about the size of a large closet, but if I were to build I would want something that would last once I get a bigger place. So, I'm leaning toward towers instead of bookshelves

With a budget of 1000 for the materials to build the boxes and electronics (I'm thinking I would end up casing anything I build in clear cherry/mahogany/something fun, so I guess I'll leave that cost out) what would you suggest, and what would be comparable products if I were to buy instead of building.

Have a look at these kits

Add a 15" sub and you're good to go!
