Pioneer VSX-822k firmware update

Hi,

I'm currently doing the firmware update for my Pioneer VSX-822k: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Home/AV-Receivers/Pioneer+Receivers/VSX-822-K?tab=firmware

Now I followed the instructions, but my front screen as been flashing UPDATE for over 30 minutes now. Anybody know how long this update is supposed to take?

If I turn off the receiver... will it restore the previous firmware version?

Still nothing going on.

Anybody has ever done a firmware update on a Pioneer receiver? How long did it take?

should I turn the power off?

I did mine today, I also bought it today. I downloaded the firmware to my laptop, unzipped the file and put it on a small usb drive. It took about 3 minutes and said completed. The only weird thing is it said it was the VSX-1022 when it was done installing. Everything works though, Pandora is good.

Thanks for your reply.

After 1 hr+ of waiting, I finally turned off the power. Nothing critical happened, but the update did not work.

Initially, my NTSF usb key was not recognized at all. I've used a smaller FAT key. The file was found and the update begun, but never completed.

I'll try to find my older keys and try again... but now now : now it's movie time. smile.gif

Same exact problem here. I tried a flash with ntfs and it did not see it so I tried one with fat and it saw it and flashes update but it just keeps flashing and its been some time now. Did you ever get yours to work? I think I might do a factory reset and try again.

I had to try 3 different usb keys. The first one wouldn't read,it was NTFS, the second one was Fat 32 but it read updating for 3, hours. I unplugged it from the wall tried a 3rd USB key in Fat 32 and after it rebooted, it updated in about 5 minutes and read completed. The instructions said if it doesn't work use another USB key and that's all it takes.

Did an update this morning I reformatted a Sandisk Cruzer to fat32 unzipped the file to it followed Pioneers instructions got the "update" flashing on the 822 display for a minute or so than "complete" so I guess that is that.
