tall shallow subwoofer design possible?

Floor space is limited so I'd like to make a tall shallow subwoofer is it possible to make a 2 subwoofer sealed enclosure 48 inches tall I only 12 inches deep if the sub woofer allows it. Would it be unstable and tip over and how could you stabilize it? I've never seen a design like this

I could go up to 16 inches deep

To keep it stable, you can place the subwoofer as close to the bottom as you can and make the base of the cabinet a little wider than the top. Another option is to have the subwoofer down firing. If its still too top heavy, there are these nylon straps that anchor to the wall and screw into cabinets.

As long as you maintain the required clearance for the driver, there will be no issue. Look into a sonotube or a transmission line as an alternative for minimum floor space applications.
