How to watch video files from a flash drive on a flat panel that does not have a usb input?

No usb input on my old vizio. Is there a way to utilize the existing a/v inputs to take files off a flash drive? No computer oriented solutions please but would consider an inexpensive media player of some sort....all i need it to do is give me a way to connect the flash drive to the flat panel with a player program and remote control.

Have you considered a PS3? Attached via the HDMI connection, it's a great way to play video files.

Do I understand that you old Vizio only has NTSC standard definition composite A/V inputs (Yellow, Red and White)?
If yes then could you use a VCR?

Try looking at the WD TV Live media player. Friend of mine uses that unit for his 4 TB hard drive and it works like a charm. Just plug the flash drive into the USB input, run either an HDMI out or a composite and stereo audio cables. The box can be found on sale for any where from $69.99 to its full price of $99.99

Seconded.
I have a WDTV Live mainly for wireless media library access, but also does USB.
Was so happy with it, I just bought another.
Generally better and quicker than most 'smart TV' interfaces.

AH!
That looks like a very nice option. This leads me to another thought....(Yes, I may now be departing from my "inexpensive" requirement....just exploring the options)...
Is there also a media hub out there that has a HDD as well as being able to login to a Wi-Fi signal to communicate with my slingbox at another location?

Google NAS (Network Attached Storage) that might be what you're after, like this:

I don't know if this works with WDTV or if its even any good - but one of these is around $300 in Aus plus cost of HDD(s)

thanks to both of you.
This solution looks good.
I checked out the WD site to see the specs. It says "built in WiFi" and one of you mention wireless media library access.
I wonder.....
1-does this mean that i could also login to my mobile hotspot with the WD live and communicate with my Slingbox back home?
and then i thought of another question....
2-could I just as well plug an external HDD into the USB port as I can a flash drive?

either of these two options would be great. Both would be simply amazing.
