Bought a new Onkyo TX-NR717 7.2 receiver and I want to make sure I get the most of it.

I have a 7.1 set up and my center, left and right speakers are easy but two of the speakers are on the ceiling over the sofa and the others are on the rear wall over my left and right shoulder. What are they considered?

For the longest time I didn't pay much attention to the set up because I constantly had my old received in All Channel Stereo. Now I'd like to fine tune the system.

The ones above your head are considered "side" surrounds and should be connected to the "Surr" speaker posts (left in image below) while the speakers on the rear wall are the "rear" surrounds and should be connected to the "Surr Back" speaker posts (right in the image below).

That's good to know. Sounds silly, but I wanted to make sure they should not be connected as Front High or something and then the 2EQ would not recognize them correctly.

Doesn't hurt to ask to confirm. smile.gif Front Height speakers are generally placed directly above the FL/FR speakers.
