65" TC-P65ZT60 $3,849, TC-P60ZT60 $3,449

Well, I hope it's for real. Came from HD Junkies Forum and links to Value Electronics.

Prices are better than I expected, but I don't know if I can wait that long (assuming everything is true, which is a big assumption, I know).
Price is a nice surprise, assuming this is the MSRP. May shipping is a loooong wait, I want it now!
Only 400$ between the 60" & 65" ?!!
This seems to be SRP. If you look at the ST60s on the same site, they are listed for SRP.
Great people to buy from, got my Kuro 600m from them 4 yrs ago. Im not looking to change TVs yet, but nice to know that when this thing finally dies I wont necessarily have a downgrade smile.gif

SRP = Suggested Reseller Price? Which means the prices on the site are what VE will sell ther units to resellers for? If so, price goes above with other sites? But in November we'll be able to use SRP as a basline for negotiating?

Just trying to understand.

My 1st thought when I saw the pricing was, "What kind of reference product is priced at about the same as the VT50?"

I doubt very, very much that's SRP on the ZTs.
so, does this mean we can expect to pay ~$3k for the 65 inch in november?
I thought there will be a 50VT60, they don't even have that listed.

What is SRP?
Suggested retail price as far as I know. VE is just the first to advertise the set, I do believe (i.e. they are a reseller).

Thanks. Curious as it also means suggested reseller price too.
Again, I'm pretty sure those VE prices are a discount from SRP. It's a good deal and VE is being aggressive. But that doesn't seem like the expected SRP.
^I knew that, I was just defining SRP as an acronym (sorry, Glashub, if I insulted your intel and took you too literally). wink.gif To pin a figure, I'm going with $4299.
My local magnolia (av design center that carries oppo, mcintosh, and arcam) claima the zt60 will be priced to complete in the uber luxury space, notably against the Elites.

The manager mentioned the price he saw started with a 5.

Think nothing of it Vinnie. smile.gif The VE prices threw me for a loop as they are very low.

That's not correct. I've been in the wholesale/reseller industry for about 3 dozen years and i've been involved in buy pricing, resale pricing, and list pricing for most of that time and the term SRP has always meant Suggested Retail Price (same as List Price). It's an abbreviation for MSRP (as if it needs to be abbreviated).

I have never seen the term SRP used to signify anything called Suggested Reseller Price as there is really no such thing. Maybe you're getting it mixed up with RRP (Recommended Retail Price) but that is still list price the same as SRP and MSRP.

That said, VE's pre-order prices are usually at full List Price, but the uncharacteristically small spread between the 60" and 65" ZT60 prices makes me think they're not MSRP, or at least the 65 incher isn't. Either Panasonic has changed their MSRP strategy, or VE doesn't want to scare anyone away wink.gif

There won't be a 50" VT60 in North America. Like last year, the smallest VT here will be a 55 incher.

It's possible/likely that there will be a 50" VT60 in Europe though, as there was a 50" VT50 there last year.

Hey Randy, with all due respect and not to make you wrong but to help clarify how I was confused; according to Wiki it can mean suggested reseller price too….unless I’m missing something:

“Additionally, the use of MSRP and SRP have been confused. In certain supply chains, where a manufacturer sells to a wholesale distributor, and the distributor in turn sells to a reseller, the use of SRP is used to denote suggested reseller price. In that case MSRP is used to convey manufacturer suggested retail price.”

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suggested_retail_price

This seemed a likely definition to me because the VE prices are so low compared to the $4200-$4500 conjectures floating around.

Pricing? Am I missing something?

Why is the ST 60" & 65" a HUGE price difference and the ZT & VT not?

ZT 60" $3,450 add $400 you get the ZT 65" $3,850

VT 60" $2,900 add $250 you get the 65" $3,150

St 60" $1,900 add $900 you get the 65" $2,800

$900 more for the ST???

This really bugs me. Thanks to a room that's 15' wide and some rather large speakers, a 55" TV is the absolute largest I can have and that's pushing things. I would love a 50" VT60. I would think there are a significant number of people who care about picture quality, but don't have room for a huge TV, but the release strategies used by most manufactures sure don't reflect this.

I know a coworker who went to CES and saw the ZT60/VT50 comparison at the booth, and he told me's already thinking of finding another spot for his 65" VT50...

I definitely don't plan on upgrading from my VT50, but I also don't think I'd mind one bit if my VT spontaneously developed an un-repairable issue this year and had to be replaced under my warranty. Then I'd probably feel pretty okay with paying the difference between my replacement VT60 and a ZT60....
^Another critical viewing owner of the VT50 here also saw that same comparison booth and was not as impressed.wink.gif

I suppose I'm going to be biting my nails in anticipation for the next ~5 months while I watch my POS VT50 frown.gif

I think the smallest ZT60 and VT60 will be 60 inches.

Dude that TV sucks so hard it should be the official "Happy Endings Massage Parlor" monitor. smile.gif I mean seriously I have one too and I just don't know how I put up with it after coming to this forum and being reminded that I sold a (gasp) KURO!!! for this.
H'm, I like that price even better. I want to pay someone for this TV right now! This is going to be a painful wait. I have one of the original Panasonic 50" 1080p plasmas and have loved it. Can't wait!
