Anyone have any plans or pics? We need a minimum of 5 seats. Thanks in advance

Similar to my size, although I'm leaving my room open in the end. Here's my plan; we switched to a row of three in front and a row of two on the riser. You should be able to easily to two rows of three.

Mine is a little over 11' wide after framing and one layer of 5/8" drywall. And to the back of the riser is a little over 20'.

Wow.....um....er......ah.......yeah. We will need just a little more information to point you in the right direction. Items like budget, design elements or themes, dedicated space or multi purpose media room, DIY or professional build out. Diagram or pictures of the space also help.

Regards,

TKeyes, now that we have had a good laugh at your expense. Welcome to the forum.

draw a measured floor plan showing the room and all the breaks like door and the jog. Indicate dimensions. You don't need to use any computer drawing program, just draw on a piece of paper then take a picture and post in this thread, I promise you will get some intelligent responses on how to lay out the room. A picture of the current condition would help as well.

My room is only 1' longer than your space and the same width. Click on my signature link to see what you are able to do with that size room. As soon as I get 2 boards milled with a wedge shape to cant my seats slightly back, I will have 2 rows of 4 high back rockers in my theater. (and I can finally have the carpet installed!)

Mine room is slightly narrower and I have 3 rows of 3.

Well, at 12' wide you are probably looking at 2 rows of seating, 3 seats in each row.

First row at 11-12', and 2nd row at 15-16'.
120" screen would be a decent starting point. I'm sure others will chime in.

With that limited width you might consider an AT screen, speakers behind the screen, and bass traps in the front corners all behind the screen.

With that big a screen in a narrow room you will need to make sure the side walls are fabric covered with a black or very dark and non-reflective fabric otherwise you are going to light up those sidewalls very distractingly.

My room (12' 4" wide after treatments) has a 124" wide scope screen and it fits perfectly. Very much a WOW factor. That leaves me about 16" on both sides. I have darker tapestry fabric above the chair rail and yes you can see the side walls while a movie is playing, but it is NOT distracting at all. I didn't want and wouldn't have ever built a super dark theater. My play movie scene on the Grafix Eye is about 10% sconces on the side walls.

If I didn't have some framing on the screen wall (on the sides) to attach a future power masking system, I would have gone up to 134"ish wide!!! smile.gif

I just hate to see folks that build a super nice theater and put a (relatively) dinky screen on the wall. It's supposed to be immersive!

My room is 12'4" wide by 20'8" long and we managed to fit 9 seats and a 120" 16:9 screen.

You can find more pics and plans in my build thread: Chasen the Dream Theater.
