Dune 301W, Windows Server 2012 Essentials, FLAC/MKV how to get to work? Other choices?

Thread Starter
I bought a Dune 301 for the bedroom last night.

Apparently Dune does not support SMB Authentication so it requires anonymous access. I tried setting it up but no luck. I'm not really crazy about that anyways since we run a domain environment here at home.

So I installed Server 2012 Essentials in a VM and for the Media Server working. However it will not play FLAC/MKV which is 99 percent of our stuff.

I've ready about the Windows Media packs and that but they seem to be for Win8, not for Server 2012.

Is there a solution? Does it require transcoding? Is there another UPNP Media Server out there that does not require transcoding, will run as a service, and not utilize Java?

I tried Plex but had a lot of problems with IE10 on 2012 even with IESC turned off. I do not have the CPU for transcoding, its running on an ESXI 5.1 server and I'd be running this strictly for media sharing.

Thanks

Here is a review done by dbone1026 / Damian.

May be he can help you out. I know that the 301 unit has some audio bugs and that there is a patch for it, but I am not sure if this works or not. Apparently, the patch isn't very helpful in certain situations according to the review.

Mezzmo, Twonky, TVMobili are UPnP/DLNA servers that do not require Java and run under Windows at least the desktop versions.

Do you mean flac/mka audio files or video/mkv with flac audio tracks, I thought the Dune would support videos with flac audio.
