Newbie with $1000 budget

Hello there,

I'm new in the forums and I've subscribed because I'm building my home cinema area and the last part missing is the audio setup. I have a Samsung 60 inch led lcd dumb version (non smart, no 3d haha) and I'd like a good system to pair it with to play blue rays as well as some music. Onkyo 9400 sounds appealing to me but I'm sure that with your wisdom I can get better stuff getting separates. Last time I bought was 10 years ago so I don't know where to start.

Would you guys help me?

Thanks!

IMO as far as HTIBs go the 9400THX is the best on the market.

But yes you get much better results buying seperates. My suggestion would be to post in the speakers forum and subwoofer forum to see what others have to say. Off the top of my head I'm thinking Onkyo 616 AVR and the new Polk Monitor series speakers and BIC F-12 sub.

Would it be possible for you to put some links to the complete set at amazon's site so I can compare? If I buy separates, what else should I need to keep in mind at the time of the purchase? I'm thinking about wiring, but don't know what else.

Thanks!
