Panasonic ST50: Netflix streaming: red colors are vibrating

I only have one problem with this plasma TV, and I hope there is a setting which can resolve it. The only source from which I have noticed the problem is Netflix streaming using the Viera apps. U-Verse, Blu-Ray, Xbox, and Wii do not have this display problem: if there is a bright red object on the screen, the red colors will 'shake'. So if someone is wearing a red shirt on say, Buffy the Vampire Slayer - that entire shirt will noticeably vibrate on the screen - the edges of it shaking up and down just slightly. It is very distracting.

Is there a setting that can help resolve this? NO other colors on the screen are having this problem on Netflix. Very strange.

Does your BD player have Netflix capability? Or even Xbox or the Wii? Maybe try streaming the Netflix from those sources and see if you still experience the issue.

Or maybe hook up your computer to the TV and try Netflix.

This way you can isolate the issue and determine if in fact it's the TV/Netflex compatibility.

That is a good suggestion - next time I see a flickering object I will switch over to my blu-ray or Xbox and stream the same scene.

Good luck...please be sure to post back your findings in case someone else comes across this issue.

Okay - we found a spot on a Buffy episode that flickered and then switched over to Xbox and watched the same scene. On Xbox the red objects did NOT flicker. So it only happens when Netflix is streamed in the Viera apps screen.

Ok, let's continue the troubleshooting...

How are you streaming Netflix through the TV? Wired or wireless? Same way though the Xbox?

The TV is wired ethernet to my U-Verse service via a network hub, and the Xbox is also wired with ethernet to the same hub.. So no wireless is involved.

There might be an issue with the Viera app Netflix then. Not sure what else it could be if it works from other sources.

Is the firmware up to date on the TV?

I would also advice calling Panasonic, but I'm sure that is going to be the first question they ask.

Have not had time to check - but I will verify the firmware status and let you know.
