playing music while watching tv?

Love the reciever so far but i am having problems playing music while watching the game nothing in the manual to help with this issue.

nothing in the post to help reader either. I think you might need to at least specify some info about the components involved.

Unplug the HDMI cable from the TV. Play music from Receiver, play your Cable Box through TV.

Just get another HDMI cable from your TV to your cable box.

Sorry about that you are right, currently i have a TX-NR807 AV RECIEVER, SONY MEGA STORAGE CDP-CX455, SONY MINIDISC MDS-JE330, PS3, WDTVLIVE, All but the minidisc and the cd changer are connected by hdmi connecters.

Connect the cable box to the TV via HDMI and run an optical cable from the cable box to the receiver for audio.

Then you can select what input on the receiver you want while the game is on.
